ATLANTA, GA – December 13, 2017 – Little did Atlanta business executive January Howard know that a simple plea on Linkedin to MELT (www.meltatl.com), the award-winning sports, entertainment and culinary marketing firm and its Chairman and CEO Vince Thompson, would result in providing Christmas joy and presents for 95 metro-Atlanta children. The children are in the care of the local organization Safe House (www.safehouse.org), a non-profit that was founded in 1989 to provide safe havens for victims and their children of domestic violence.

This is the 9th year that Ms. Howard has worked on the Safe House Kids Holiday Gift Project, but she was finding it especially hard to find volunteers and contributors due to the board and volunteer attrition and it being the busy holiday season for everyone. Her goal was to accommodate 250 children, but she was 95 short when she decided to tap her network on contacts on LinkedIn.

One of the requests came to Thompson’s inbox and that’s when the fun started. Thompson and his team at MELT have always been very generous with their time and resources in the community believing that “to much has been given, much is expected.” MELT has been extremely involved with community organizations and causes such as WellSpring; The Showcase Group; The winning Safe Harbor YES Amendment Two in 2016. Further, in 2015 Thompson was awarded Father of The Year by The American Diabetes Association and a 2015 Cynopsis Sports Social Good Award. Interestingly, Thompson and MELT were looking to help out a local children’s cause to provide presents for this holiday season, so the timing could not have been more perfect.

Thompson immediately reached out to Ms. Howard and asked her what she needed. She explained the situation, the shortage and the two agreed for MELT to buy all 95 children the gifts on their list. So in lieu of purchasing Christmas presents for their clients and throwing a holiday party, Thompson asked his staff at MELT would they agree to not only buying the presents but helping out with the wrapping party. The party to wrap all of the gifts is TODAY – Wednesday, December 13th, at The Rock N’ Taco at 3247 Roswell Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30305 from 6-10 pm. The gifts will then be distributed this Saturday at The Grant Park Recreation Center.

“It truly is a Christmas Miracle,” said Thompson. “The timing of January’s call, MELT’s desire to give back and my belief that no child should not be able to celebrate Christmas all combined for the ‘perfect storm of goodness.'”And if you don’t believe in the positive power of social media, there’s not a better example of the impact this simple request will have on dozens of metro Atlanta children.”

And, January Howard would attest to that.
