In 2000, Thompson founded and has built MELT into one of the nation’s largest independent sports and event marketing agencies. This includes MELT’s 20-year representation of The Coca-Cola Company, activating 17 consecutive Final Fours, 7 consecutive seasons of ESPN College GameDay, FIFA, MLB, MLS, NCAA, Nascar, PGA and Olympics. Clients include AFLAC, Boy’s & Girl’s Clubs, Coaches VS Cancer, Core Power, Crook & Marker, GA Crown, Giving Kitchen, H-E-B Supermarkets, Intercontinental Hotel Group, KIA, Powerade and Wellstar Health Systems.
MELT is a full-service agency offerings its clients brand strategy, event and experiential marketing, social and digital media and sponsorship strategy and consulting.
Thompson, a 1984 graduate of Auburn University, was a Student Assistant in the Sports Information Department and a Sports Editor for The Auburn Plainsman. This led to the formation of MELTU, an award-winning intern program for college students. As a pivot during Covid-19, MELTU has gone virtual reaching hundreds of students. He lectures at universities, is featured in national publications, appears on The Paul Finebaum Show, sits on boards of Samford and UGA and his forthcoming book “Building Brand You” will be released in August.
