My first week at MELT has been an eye-opening experience for me. When I first arrived I was expecting a completely different line of work, mostly involving filing things and making constant runs to Starbucks. Little did I know, I would be thrown into the front lines of both MELT and SportsTrust. I feel like my duties, as an intern for SportsTrust, are very different from the other interns. Instead of working the desk I research the latest news for the SportsTrust athletes and make charts showing how popular each athlete is based on his social media followings.
There is also a creative side to being an intern for SportsTrust. Nick and I have been constantly thinking about ideas to post on SportsTrust’s Instagram and Twitter feeds. Recently, we have been tasked to come up with an idea for people to play video games with Eddie Lacy, which I thought was a very fun and extravagant assignment. We are also tasked with putting together a bag full of gifts for the SportsTrust athletes. Considering I get to look up new products and make connections with company representatives, I get inside access to products that NFL players could potentially be working with one day. Nick has been a great mentor, and I don’t think I would have been able to fit in so well without him. MELT has been a great experience so far. The office is awesome, the people all value everyone’s opinion, and I cannot wait to see what my future at MELT looks like.
