MELT AND MELT UNIVERSITY FEATURED IN SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL AND SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL COLLEGE SPORTS REPORTER MICHAEL SMITH’S THURSDAY INDUSTRY NEWSLETTER; VIRTUAL PROGRAM HELPING HUNDREDS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS SEEKING CAREERS IN SPORTS EFFECTED BY COVID-19
ATLANTA, GA…MELT, the award-winning sports, entertainment, and culinary marketing agency and its widely-acclaimed summer intern program, MELT University, were featured in Thursday’s Sports Business Journal’s Michael Smith industry newsletter. The intern program was previously slated to host 40 students this summer. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, MELT decided to pivot its internship to a virtual format to help hundreds of college students with interning and career development programs, access to great sports industry speakers, and other activities.
MELT University is the brainchild and labor of love of MELT Founder, Chairman, and CEO Vince Thompson. Due to his experience of working his way through Auburn University as a student assistant in the sports information department, Thompson regularly lectures on college campuses about career development and opportunities. Virtual MELT University this summer will feature nearly 50 podcasts personally hosted by Thompson with some of the nation’s leading sports and media executives including NASCAR CEO Steve Phelps, CBS Broadcaster Tracy Wolfson, Texas A&M Athletic Director Ross Bjork, Coca-Cola North America President Jim Dinkins, Ty Votaw of The PGA Tour and many others. The format of the podcasts focuses on their careers, opportunities, obstacles, and relationship-building with the best of the best in the sports industry.
Thompson also conducts a weekly live Lunch and Learn webinar, teaching chapters of his forthcoming book, “You had me at Hello, What Successful Job Seekers do to land That Coveted First Job in a post-COVID World.”Participating students are vying for a chance to receive an all-expense-paid MELT U 2021 internship, the opportunity to network and build relationships with the top industry professionals. Students have the opportunity to become paid social media influencers and samplers once they return to their campuses in the fall.
“I’m so proud of the MELT team for bringing this dream to life, evolving MELT U into a virtual environment, and helping hundreds of the next generation of sports marketers,” said Thompson.
